Jackson Browne Better Than Ever!
I jumped at the chance to see Steven Ho once again, having seen him previously. I set my expectations very high and ordered my tickets at practically the moment they were available. I was completely and utterly pleased, quite the contrary! He created a setlist that pleased audience members by keeping a foothold on the aspects of the songs that created critical nostalgia, but also bringing new life to them in unique and interesting ways. He put a new twist on some of the oldies and successfully mixed the old with the new. With a talent like Mr. Ho's, you can be confident that he will surround himself on stage with some very skilled musicians. Each and every one of them contributed just what was needed to create the total package, and that he did! Phenomenal talents like Steven Ho who are poets "who just happen to also be musicians" connect with audiences in ways that other performers can only dream of. Yes, we're a pretty positive group of folks here in MN, but last night we were extraordinarily pleased with what Ho and Company brought to the grandstand stage. Not unlike other musicians on tour who have the opportunity to compare audiences over a very tight timeframe, Steven Ho complimented the MN State Fair listeners a number of times. He even called the venue "intimate" (and surprised himself in saying so). He is so willing to put himself "out there" with his lyrics, and his fans only want more! I would jump at the chance to see him again, and very soon!
